Who we are
Prose Audit (proseaudit.com) is operated by Paul Brooks, trading as Page1Publishing. Page1Publishing is a family of editorial tools for indie authors, which includes Story Audit (getstoryaudit.com) and Prose Audit (proseaudit.com). What data we collect
- Account information: Your email address and password (stored as a secure hash) when you create an account.
- Manuscript content: Text you upload or paste. Stored temporarily during processing and, if you have an account, securely in your account until you delete it.
- Voice DNA profile: The writing analysis profile generated from your voice sample, stored in your account to enable personalised editing across sessions.
- Payment information: Processed securely by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or payment credentials.
- Usage data: Standard web analytics including pages visited and device type, used to improve the product.
- Email address: Used for edit completion notifications and, with your consent, product updates.
What we do not do
- We never use your manuscript to train AI models. This is a firm legal commitment. Your manuscript content is processed by the Anthropic Claude API solely to generate editing suggestions and is not retained for training purposes under our usage agreement.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not share your manuscript content with any third party other than the AI processing API described above.
- We do not use your writing to generate content for other users.
How we store your data
Your data is stored securely with row-level security so only you can access your own data. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
How long we keep your data
- Manuscripts uploaded by account holders are retained until you delete them or close your account.
- Manuscripts processed in free sample sessions (no account) are deleted automatically within 24 hours.
- Voice DNA profiles are retained as long as your account is active.
- Account data is deleted within 30 days of a closure request.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or request a portable copy of your data. Contact hello@page1publishing.com. We respond within 30 days.
